We have a four month contract for a researcher on the Fife School Meals Project and local economic indicators.

Based at our Burntisland offices, you will produce a case study report on the impact of the project which is a collaboration between the Fife Diet, the Soil Association and Fife Council. The research would focus on the economic benefits and the wider impact of the local food movement in Fife region.

The school meals project is a one-year pilot combining local and organic sourcing. The project launched in October 2013 (see here for our blog post) and the first phase will end in October 2014. It involves 5 primary, one secondary and one nursery school in the Kirkland cluster, by Leven.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake desk-based research and produce a case study report on the impact of the Fife school project, and the wider economic impact of the local food movement in the Fife region.
  • The school lunch project features innovation in sustainable procurement and the researcher will need to work with both local authorities and NGOs or the third sector.
  • Devise methods and collect additional soft and hard data to fill the gaps.
  • Produce draft reports and engage stakeholders from different sectors.
  • Represent the Fife Diet as required in relation to the school meals project.
  • Distribute final report to a variety of audiences.
