There’s been a sudden and significant switch from big retailers on GM.
Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s and the Co-op this week ended bans on giving ‘Frankenstein Feed’ to farm animals producing meat, milk and eggs.
The three retailers were the last of the big food chains to be holding out against the use of controversial GM crops on their farms.
The change means that the vast majority of meat, milk and eggs sold by Britain’s supermarkets will come from animals raised on a GM diet. Alarmingly, none of these products will be labelled as coming from GM-fed animals in what critics call a disaster for consumer choice.
We are distributing this information from the Facebook campaign…
On 12th April 2013, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s and the Co-op ended their current bans on supplying cheese, yoghurt, milk, meat and eggs produced from animals reared on GM feed. Tesco are doing the same with chicken feed.
(Morrisons and ASDA apparently did so awhile back. We are awaiting info on Iceland, Lidl and Aldi. Waitrose claim to be anti GM and not to use GM feed, but they sell patented salad/veg crops from a subsidiary of Monsanto).
PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE 5 MINUTES TO PHONE AND/OR EMAIL Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and the Co-op NOW! Let them know the error of their ways and the extent of your boycott. PLEASE GET ON THIS – block their phone lines and clog their inboxes – and hit their Facebook pages – it makes a difference!
Dismiss their PR excuses about lack of GM free feed availability. (See post at top of Event page)
Customer protest started the original ban on GM foods and animal feed in this country. We’ve done it before, we can do it again. DO NOT LET THE OBSCENELY LUCRATIVE AND HIGHLY SUSPECT BIOTECH INDUSTRY RULE OUR DESTINY. Together we can ensure the bans are back in place AND BETTER.
Please invite ALL your friends and DO IT NOW! You are powerful enough to reverse this new policy change.

“In 2009, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) stated that, “Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with genetically modified (GM) food,” including infertility, immune problems, accelerated ageing, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. The AAEM has asked physicians to advise all patients to avoid GM foods”
