Saturday 23rd March – The Toll Centre, Burntisland – 2.30 – 5.30pm
The Sustainable Communities Initiative in Kinghorn have been drawing up plans for an Eco-village in Burntisland, at the Widows Land site. The development will have a low environmental impact and provide numerous benefits for Burntisland, such as affordable rented housing, an outdoor education centre, community allotments and food projects, woodland walks and wildlife areas and a play area.
We think it’s a brilliant idea, and to help out, we’ll be hosting an afternoon tea on Saturday 23rd March, and are inviting all our members to come along and find out more about the development.
We know it’s getting to that time of year when you’re running out of inspiration for the winter veg box, and so the tea will take a veggie patch theme, showcasing unusual ways to use up the last of the winter veg – turnip cake, parsnip muffins, we might even attempt to rustle up a sweet onion pie if we’re feeling brave….
The afternoon will also feature hands on cooking sessions for both kids and adults, and there’ll be the opportunity to visit the site of the proposed Eco-Village and get involved as the development moves forward.
Do you have a fantastic veggie-patch recipe you’d like to share at our afternoon tea? Email us the details, or even better, bring it along on the day and we’ll all have a try!
You can pop in to the Toll Centre at any point between 2.30 and 5.30pm for a cup of tea and a chat, or if you’d like to take part in the cooking sessions or the walk, the times and details are as follows;
3.30pm – Walk to the Widows Land Site – See where the proposed Eco-Village will be and have the opportunity to quiz the SCI team about this exciting project.
4pm – Veg Box Pakoras (Adults) – We think these spicy bites make a great tea time snack or dinner party starter, and are much easier to make than you’d think. Pick your veg and spices, make the batter, and get frying!
