Growing some of your own food is a key principle when it comes to the Fife Diet. Whether it’s a full scale allotment or a few tubs on the patio, food from your back garden has one of the lowest carbon footprints possible. We know it can be scary though, especially when you’re more used to veg coming picked, washed, and ready to chop from the local supermarket. The hardest part is often just figuring out where to start – what should I grow? When do I start planting? Does it matter what type my soil is?
The Fife Diet is here to help though. Our first free workshop this year will be a Beginners Grow Your Own session, designed to help fill you with ideas and inspiration for the year ahead! We’ll cover all the basics to get you started, and help you come up with a design and plan for your own growing area, no matter how large or small.
Places are free to Fife Diet members, although if you’d like to bring a friend along who’s not a member they can join on the day. Tea / Coffee and a light lunch will be provided, and you’ll get the chance to meet other Fife Diet members starting out on their growing journey too. To book a place, or for more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
