Asparagus in season is amazing and something that Fife produces well on a good year. The season is so short lived that you can’t really overdo it, so stock up, enjoy & eat like a King as we come out of the ‘hungry gap’.

To prepare just hold the base of the asparagus and bend it so that it will snap, finding the point where the woody stalk ends all by itself. Asparagus is so delicious it needs little in the way of preparation – lightly steam in a  pan with the lid on for just a few minutes.

Things to do with steamed asparagus:

serve with butter, salt & pepper maybe even some lemon juice or olive oil
serve with poached eggs or a hollandaise sauce
add to a salad with halved boiled eggs
