Newburgh Orchard Group events

This from our friends at Newburgh Orchard Group will be selling locally grown plums, home-made jams and other fruit from its stall on Newburgh High Street from 9.30 to 12.00 on Saturdays August 29th, September 5th and 12th (subject to crop). Plums from Newburgh used to be sent to the Royal Court in Falkland. Newburgh’s Victoria plums are famous and people come from all over Fife and Tayside to buy them.

Newburgh Orchard Group’s mission is to maintain the legacy by creating market demand and remuneration for the orchard keepers. Also see our plum recipes here.

What a fantastic idea. More groups like this please!

I was in a local supermarket today and noticed that they were selling ripe plums from Israel. I mean why, Scottish plums are literally falling off the trees here. What’s wrong with LOCAL?!
